Ginseng grows naturally in the Eastern half of the United States. Basically along and east of the Mississippi river. In southern range it is limited due to cold required to break dormancy. Ginseng cannot be grown in direct sunlight.
They require well-drained loam soil with a pH of 5-6 and 70%-80% shade. Ginseng should not be fertilized. They must ALWAYS be in shade, with very little light, and if in pots, must be watered. We always send extra seeds.
Yellow violet is unmistakable. It’s Missouri’s only all-yellow violet. The flower stems arise from axils of upper stem leaves, and not from the base of the plant. The lower 3 petals have purple veining. The species begins flowering on low, small plants and keeps on flowering for a long period, sometimes growing to nearly 2 feet tall. Blooms March–May. Both the basal and stem leaves are heart-shaped with fine scalloping.FlowersYellow violets have five petals, five sepals, five stamens, and a single pistil. The lower petal may have purple veins and form a spur or pouch. LeavesYellow violets have heart-shaped leaves that are either basal or alternate on the stem. Shipping will be in a one gallon zip lock bag with enough air trapped inside so that the plants don’t get crushed. This bag will have a desiccant packet inside to keep moisture levels low. The zip lock bag will be placed inside a bubble mailer. This is the only way I can keep the Shipping costs low.
