Other than some occasional pruning, these dragon fruit plant varieties require very little maintenance. Self Sterile varieties: require pollen from another compatible variety to set fruit. these dragon fruit varieties require more maintenance. Fruit Production: The amount fruit that is produced from a single plant and how easy or difficult it is to grow depends on the variety. For example, a variety that is self pollinating or self-fertile will produce more fruit than a self-sterile variety.
